KISSING THE FEET OF JESUS…
In ancient times if a man were to enter into the presence of his King, this is how it was done:
He would enter the throne room on his knees, then walk up to the throne on his knees, with his head bowed down.
Then when he was before his King, he would lay prostrate on the floor with his face down and kiss the feet of his King.
That is how a man or a woman would approach his King. It showed total and ultimate submission to his royal liege.
And that particular kiss - the act of kissing the feet of the King; there is a word for that act in classical Greek. It is "proskuneo." It is one of the words in the New Testament for "worship."
So the basic premise of true worship is total humility and submission to our King Jesus. It is bowing before Him, laying prostrate before Him, and kissing His feet.
Let us be true worshippers. It is more than just the music. To worship is to kiss the feet of Jesus. It is an attitude of the heart. It is a life of humility and devotion to the King of Kings our Lord Jesus.
