MAKING OTHERS FEEL IMPORTANT IN GOD’S KINGDOM

It was the summer of 1990. I was with Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke at a three-day crusade where he was preaching in Aneby, Sweden.

We were at the local hotel drinking coffee with a small group of about seven or eight pastors of small churches. Brother Reinhard was encouraging them, listening to them and building them up.

He suddenly stood up and said, "please excuse me for a moment", and walked over to the hotel lift. He stood there for some time talking to a long-haired teenaged boy. He then came back to our little gathering.

"Who was that, Brother Reinhard?" I asked him.

"Oh, he is a boy staying at the hotel with his parents. I have been witnessing to him every day to win him for Jesus", he said.

I was awed that this man who preached to millions would take the time to share Christ personally with a solitary Swedish kid.

Bro Reinhard then continued listening to the pastors and talking to them. I noticed the way he honored these pastors of very small churches, making them feel that their work in God's Kingdom was important and significant.

After about 30 minutes the pastors took their leave and left. Bro Reinhard and I were alone.

He then turned to me and said, "Christopher, this is one thing that I have learnt: A true man of God is one who can make people who see themselves as small and insignificant, feel big in God's Kingdom!"

For me, it was two priceless life lessons learnt in one afternoon.

"Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their way of life, imitate their faith".

-Heb 13:7
